There’s a lot to cover here so I guess I’ll just skip the intro and head straight into the juicy bits.
Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ – Hamakaze – 1/7 – Iso Kai (Amakuni, Hobby Japan)
The rigging isn’t all that intricate so I’m confused why this is more expensive than a 1/4 scale figure. Now localize the game to a global audience already. Fans of the game might not agree and will insist on keeping it Japanese. When I play any game, I prefer to at least have the UI in a language I can understand.

Fate/Grand Order – Brynhildr – Lancer (Amakuni, Hobby Japan)
I think this one is extremely overpriced. Even the limited edition base is not really all that groundbreaking. LEDs are freaking cheap. Not really worth the extra ¥5,000 that you have to pay to upgrade.
And it doesn’t look like the FGO train is going anywhere so I guess you can still count on more FGO figures for years to come. Gotta milk what you can out of the franchise and that’s a good thing from a business standpoint.

AFK Arena – Shemira – 1/7 (Myethos)
I just learned today that AFK Arena is another Chinese IP which is why you can’t find this figure on MFC. I really wish MFC would change their policy on listing Chinese figures as it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep track of my pre-orders with so many new good figures coming from Chinese IPs and companies like APEX, Myethos, and Hobby Max.
Moving on to the figure. It looks great and there are a lot of special effects. The green translucent elements would definitely look great with good lighting. The price is on the steep side though.

Toradora! – Aisaka Taiga – B-style – 1/4 – Bunny Ver. (FREEing)
Many figures of Taiga Aisaka have become grails. Nowadays, a figure becoming exceptionally rare is no longer a big problem as companies can easily rerelease the newer figures. Like most bunny figures, this one is also simplistic. No accessories or anything but that pose and expression is definitely cute.

Arknights – Texas – 1/7 – Elite 2 (Good Smile Arts Shanghai, Good Smile Company)
Great figure with a lot of detail. The background and the base look awesome. However, that expression doesn’t seem to match. I have not played enough Arknights to understand the quirks of the character.

Eiga No Game No Life Zero – Schwi Dola – Shiro – Luxury Gift – 1/7 (Phat Company)
Sure you’d expect double character figures to be around twice the price of a regular figure. If you’d consider the company does not really spend extra on the packaging and on creating the base, the price should actually be a little less than what you would pay for two figures. In this case, you are paying over well above ¥20,000 for each figure which is absurd (unless your wallet is a bottomless pit of cash).
Do note however that I’m not here to tell you what to buy with your money. If you think the price for this is well deserved and you will be happy with what you’re getting, then pre-order it by all means.

Date A Bullet – Tokisaki Kurumi – Detective ver. (Union Creative International Ltd)
Just when you’ve thought you’ve seen every iteration a Kurumi figure can be, we see another one.
I guess Union Creative has figured out the capabilities of Kurumi as a big moneymaker. Then again, I don’t trust Union Creative enough to come up with a good quality release. At this point, I’m just hoping my remaining pre-orders with them turn out nice and not something that looks like an oversized prize figure. If you’re thinking of pre-ordering this, you must know that Union Creative produces mediocre to bad quality. You’re better off putting your money on another figure from the Good Smile Company or Alter group.

Kizumonogatari – Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade – 1/7 (Bell Fine)
Nowadays, it’s not often you get a new figure for the Monogatari series which is why so many were ecstatic about this rerelease. The aftermarket price for this one also went way up after the initial release. That’s a clear sign people want more Monogatari which I believe is one of the best anime ever made.
Some people are complimenting the quality on this one even as Bell Fine is not known for producing good quality figures. Some have also noted that it is difficult to place that heart on her hand. It just keeps falling off. Personally, I’m not sold on this one. I’d still prefer Good Smile Company’s Kiss-shot.

Kaibutsu Shoujo Pelecanus – 1/7 (Luminous Box)
If you like horror theme figures and sexy figures, this one would be right up your alley. I’m not familiar with the source material but I hear Luminous Box does decent quality figures (with the guidance of Good Smile Company). There’s a lot of detail going on here. And at a price of just a little over ¥12,000, it’s a steal. This is a recommended pre-order.

Houkai 3rd – Sakura Yae – 1/7 – Kira no Gensou Ver. (APEX)
I’ve seen plenty of figures of Sakura Yae. While I didn’t play Honkai Impact, she recently just made her first cameo in the new version previews for Genshin Impact where she will be known as Yae Miko. Given the popularity of Genshin Impact, I’m plenty sure there’ll be greater demand for her figures especially when it has been rumored that she will be a playable character.

Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu. – Maple – CA Works – 1/7 – Black Rose Armor Ver. (Chara-Ani)
Maple finally gets a proper scale figure. I wanted to be excited about this but the face and the hair seem off. Or it could just be the photos. It’s not uncommon for some promotional photos of figures to look sucky but turn out to be masterpieces. Another thing to consider is Chara-ani is questionable when it comes to quality. The more bad news is that there is no sign of any other company doing a scale figure of Maple. The next best thing would be the Act Mode line by Good Smile Company which appears to posable. I don’t like posables but, my god, does it look badass.

Shinovi Master Senran Kagura: New Link – Hikage – 1/4 – Sexy Nurse Ver. (Hobby Stock, Wing)
Nice to see other characters from Senran Kagura aside from Yumi and Ikaruga getting figures. And it’s a 1/4 scale to boot. It’s not done by FREEing but Hobby Stock and Wing are pretty good too. The details are looking good. Just look at those straps squeezing on her skin. You can also see the tone and detail of her thighs. It’s not just the thighs. The details on her body are also spot on.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e – Karuizawa Kei – 1/6 – Swimsuit Ver. (Hobby Stock, Wing)
I don’t know about you but it feels like the Highschool of the Elite anime just came and went. There was never any news of a season 2. There seems to be no clamor for a season 2. The light novel looks like it’s still ongoing. The story was intriguing but what stuck to me about the anime was that it had some beautiful and sexy female characters which led to them getting sexy scale figures.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai – Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen – Shinomiya Kaguya – B-style – 1/4 – Bunny Ver. (FREEing)
I know I don’t buy 1/4 scale bunnies but this one just looks too cute and innocent. I don’t have enough space to display a 1/4 scale and my wife would kill me if I bought a new detolf or a bookshelf to house more figures. I’m this close to hitting that pre-order button. And I’m sure the after-market price would explode. Considering how popular the show was, you would have expected Kaguya would get more figures. Instead, we get tons of Chika. The only other half-decent figure of Kaguya would be the cat ear version by Revolve which is kind of meh.

Shadows House – Emilico & Kate – F:Nex – 1/7 (FuRyu)
I didn’t watch the show so I don’t what the relationship is between the two but this looks like a good way to make guests at home your home uncomfortable.

Vsinger – Luo Tianyi – 1/8 – Grain in Ear Ver. (Good Smile Arts Shanghai, Good Smile Company)
Learned something new today. Vsinger apparently is the Chinese VOCALOID — neat. Luo Tianyi is the first Vsinger character to become a VOCALOID. This figure has a lot of accessories and even comes with that detailed background. For something priced at a little over ¥16,000, this is a steal. Just the detail on the dress is something to gawk at. And then you see the whole package.

Fate/Grand Order – Katsushika Hokusai – Toto-sama – Foreigner, Travel Portrait Ver. (Phat Company)
This is too expensive for that level of detail. Now I’m convinced figure companies are just milking what they can off of the Fate franchise.

No Game No Life – Shiro – Shibuya Scramble Figure – 1/7 – Alice in Wonderland Ver. (Alpha Satellite, eStream)
By golly. I’m not a fan of No Game No Life but this figure is just beautiful. If you were thinking about getting that double figure of Schwi and Shiro, this would actually be a better choice (and cheaper too).

Original Character – KD Colle – Minamoto Yui – 1/7 – Maid Ver. (Kadokawa)
Those are some serious badonkas. Also, the top is cast-off. I rest my case.

Girls’ Frontline – Kar98k – 1/7 – Roses in Hand Ver. (Hobby Max)
MFC is missing out on these gorgeous Chinese IP figures. This actually reminds me of the Belfast figure which is also by Hobby Max.

X-Men – Wolverine (Laura Kinney) – Bishoujo Statue – Marvel x Bishoujo – 1/7 (Kotobukiya)
Yellow and blue spandex in all its bishoujo and adamantine glory. Larry Kinney, more commonly known as X-23, dons the 90s Wolverine costume.

FairyTale – Another Sleeping Beauty – 1/8 (Myethos)
Here’s something that even non-anime fans can get into. I mean, who doesn’t know who sleeping beauty is? But would any sleeping beauty fan throw $160 on a piece of plastic? I mean we do it all the time but would any regular fairy tale fan do it?

Shingeki no Bahamut – Dark Angel Olivia – 1/8 (Kotobukiya)
Dark Angel Olivia gets her third rerelease. And this is why I love Kotobukiya. If you ever covet one of their figures and the after-market prices are crazy, you just have to bide your time because a rerelease is definitely happening. If you missed the first and second releases, get her now. Winged figures are in a league of their own. And just look at the details on the figure. It’s a steal at that pre-order price.

Date A Bullet – White Queen – B-style – 1/4 – Bunny Ver. (FREEing)
I haven’t seen the movie but if you look at the eyes, it becomes pretty obvious who she is. Pre-order if she is to your liking.

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata fine – Kato Megumi – 1/4 – Animation Ver. (Good Smile Company)
Oh, look! Wait! Haven’t I see this one before? It’s the same Megumi figure by Aquamarine. Only this time, it’s a 1/4 scale and is an animation version. Neat! While it seems like a rehash, this one definitely looks better.

Senjou no Valkyria 4: Eastern Front – Kai Schulen – 1/7 (Bell Fine)
The prototype looks pretty good for something with the Bell Fine name attached to it. Or perhaps Bell Fine has really been improving on their craft. Good on them if that’s the case. Give credit where credit is due though we’ll have to wait for their new lineups to actually release though.

Azur Lane – Javelin – 1/7 – Beach Picnic! Ver. (Alter)
It’s great we’re getting more Azur Lane figures but I dread Alter’s pricing. I already bit the bullet with Alter’s Belfast which is way beyond the price point I usually go for on 1/7 scales and then here’s another one. Granted, it’s not as pricey but I’d expect this level of detail to be a bit cheaper than the posted price. The good thing about Alter though is that they always deliver good quality.

The Legend of Sword and Fairy – Long Kui – 1/7 – Crimson Guardian Princess Ver. (Reverse Studio)
I couldn’t find any information on this and the company that is making it so pre-ordering this is basically a shot in the dark. The price is quite steep too and the prototype isn’t really all that impressive.

Original Character – Signal Nao (Union Creative International Ltd)
I’ll just say what I always say about Union Creative. Pre-ordering this would most likely just get you an oversized prize figure.

Princess Connect! Re:Dive – Momochi Kiruya – Lucrea – 1/7 – Summer (MegaHouse)
This is one I’m excited about. I’ve been playing Princess Connect on the global version and pre-orders for Summer Kyaru opened the day her gacha went live on the global server. I’ve been saving my jewels to make sure I get her. Thankfully, I didn’t have to hit pity to get her. And now, it’s time to get her in real life.

Bleach – Inoue Orihime – Gals Series – Arrancar Hen (MegaHouse)
I mean, sure. Pre-order her if you like. The figure looks pretty plain and uninteresting though. It looks more like a glorified prize figure. Of course, I might be wrong but I’m thinking you can probably get her for cheaper in the after-market.

Riddle Joker – Mitsukasa Ayase – 1/7 (Broccoli)
She’s a character from the Yuzusoft visual novel Riddle Joker. The figure looks good though the price is on the steep side. Broccoli is also mediocre when it comes to quality so pre-ordering is a bit of a gamble.

Girls’ Frontline – OTs-14 – Dinner Dictator Ver. – 1/7 (APEX)
This is giving off Azur Lane’s Jean Bart vibes. The figure looks stylish and elegant. It also comes with a hefty price tag.

Honor of Kings – Da Qiao – 1/7 – Baiheliang Goddess ver. (Myethos)
Myethos really knows how to create some very stylish figures. I’m not very familiar with the stories but I do know Da Qiao is a character from the story of the Three Kingdoms. I doubt ancient Chinese people look anything like this but it is an interesting iteration.

HoneyStrap – Suou Patra – 1/7 (Wanderer)
Apparently, she’s a VTuber. How can anyone keep track of all of them? Geez. There are so many. My hands are already full with anime and manga. The figure looks okay though Wanderer’s quality appears to be hit or miss. Sometimes they’re good. Sometimes, not so good.

Nekopara – Chocola/Vanilla – 1/7 – Chinese Dress Ver. (Good Smile Company)
Catgirls in Chinese dresses. That ticks a lot of boxes. You wouldn’t order one without the other so the two of them will set you back around ¥29,000 which is not a very bad deal considering these are guaranteed to be quality figures.

Girls und Panzer: Saishuushou – Mary – Dream Tech – 1/8 – Panzer Jacket Ver. (Wave)
The figure looks great but it looks a little too plain. The fluffy fan makes for a pretty accessory though I’m thinking it can be a dust magnet and can get dirty quick if not displayed in a dust-proof display. Props to the maker for not going for a plain white base though.

Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki – Liscia Elfrieden – F:Nex – 1/7 (FuRyu)
I was worried about companies announcing new figures for the new season when I still plowing through my Spring season backlog. The prototype picture was a bit confusing at first. I had thought she was showing a bit of tongue. Other angles show she isn’t. FuRyu did a good job on this prototype. Now if only their products were more consistent on having good quality.

I started the NekoFigs blog in January 2021, 5 years after I’ve started collecting anime figures. It all started with one humble prize figure of Saber Lily which was bought on a whim. Now, I face the big problem of how to deal with over 200 empty boxes.
