We’ve got a few good ones at great prices and some not-so-promising pre-orders. Here’s my take on them.
Kakegurui×× – Saotome Mary – 1/7 (Good Smile Company, Myethos)
When I first saw this going up for pre-order, I had two concerns. My first thought was that it would probably cost an arm and a leg. Color me surprised when I found out that it is only priced at a little over ¥12,000.
My second concern is if I can display this upright. The answer is in the affirmative. This figure can be displayed upright. I passed on many figures that can only be displayed lying down and meant to be viewed from the top. I have no frikkin’ clue what kind of displays can accommodate these kinds of figures.
This is a clear pre-order for me. And please do Jabami Yumeko next please, Myethos.

Azur Lane – Sirius – 1/8 – Lightweight Ver. (Wanderer)
When it comes to figures, one of my pet peeves is when the character is looking down. There is little incentive to buying a figure when you can hardly see its face. This figure of Sirius is one such example. I know this is only being loyal to the original character model in the game but I do wish you can see her face more clearly. Now I kinda feel bad not pre-ordering Alter’s Sirius. Then again, Wave is also doing a figure of her and this one might be a winner.

Eiga Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Kurenai Densetsu – Megumin – KD Colle – 1/7 – Sunflower One-Piece Dress Ver. (Kadokawa)
This figure looks great but I think it does not get Megumin’s face. That may also be partly because I do not envision Megumin wearing such an outfit. We’re all used to her being all chuuni and smug.

Muv-Luv Alternative – Mitsurugi Meiya – B-style – 1/4 – Bunny Ver. (FREEing)
Is it too late to get into the Muv-Lux series? I tried to get on board a few times but I always end up not sticking around. The character aesthetic looks dated but the purple looks nice. Then she’s got legs for days which is always a good thing.

if you are getting Meiya, you might as well go with this one as they go together with that bottle and champagne glass.

THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls – Yorita Yoshino – 1/7 – Blooming in Spring (PLUM)
You don’t often get a figure blowing a kiss your way. Does that kind of thing tug at your heartstrings? PLUM has mostly been a quality manufacturer (but not without gaffes) and placing your order at their online store gets you an exclusive faceplate which is mighty cute too.

SSSS.Dynazenon – Minami Yume – 1/6 (Pony Canyon)
Is the anime any good? I have no idea because I haven’t picked it up yet. Come to think of it, I never did finish SSSS.Gridman and that’s still on the watch list. As for the figure, I would be wary of the quality. While Pony Canyon is a big company, it has very little to show in terms of figures and this appears to be the first scale figure that they’ve taken on.

Girls Frontline – Suomi KP/-31 – Shibuya Scramble Figure – 1/7 – Blissful Mission Ver. (Alpha Satellite, eStream)
While this figure looks great, I wouldn’t put it in the same league as those other over-embellished Shibuya Scramble figures. For a 1/7 scale, this ain’t worth over ¥26,000. At most, I’ll peg it at ¥18,000. And did they just purposely put her in a tattered wedding dress design because it’s a game aesthetic? I’m appalled. Just give the girl a proper wedding dress.

Original Character – Hokuro no Ooi Senpai OL-san (Union Creative International Ltd)
What I can tell you is she’s got plenty of moles. I was trying to wipe them off of my monitor before I realized they were not specks of dust. As with Union Creative’s latest figure offerings, this is a huge figure. It is a whopping 23cm even when she is sitting down. Do note that this is a non-scale. Despite being large, it’s probably not worth your money as Union Creative’s quality is comparable to prize figure quality.

To LOVEru Darkness – Momo Belia Deviluke – 1/6 – Darkness ver. (Union Creative International Ltd)
Union Creative’s gotten a lot of flak for their shoddy quality but if they got something right, it’s their To-LOVEru Darkness version figures. This is a rerelease. I already have this and a few other Darkness version figures in my collection so I can attest that the quality for this one is good.
Do note though that this does not come with a base. You only get the figure. Luckily, I already have some shelves fitted with faux fur.

86 -eightysix- – Vladilena Milizé – KD Colle – 1/7 (Kadokawa, Stronger)
The character is from the acclaimed light novel Eighty Six. It got an anime adaptation but I have no clue where to watch it. As for the figure, the hat can be removed and it comes with an alternative hand part that does a military salute. I can’t decide which pose I like better.

Enn Enn no Shouboutai – Tamaki Kotatsu – ARTFX J – 1/8 (Kotobukiya)
It’s from a shonen show which I’ve long graduated from. This is also a rerelease of Tamaki Kotatsu. Orders from the Kotobukiya store will get the Nekomata effects.

Atelier Ryza ~Tokoyami no Joou to Himitsu no Kakurega~ – Lila Decyrus – Lucrea – 1/7 (MegaHouse)
It’s great to see other characters from Atelier Ryza getting figures but I’m not sure if I like it. I’m also not a big fan of MegaHouse. I only ever bought one figure from them. I’m sure they do decent quality but this somehow feels subpar. Or am I just hard to please?

Kimetsu no Yaiba – Tsuyuri Kanao – Gals Series (MegaHouse)
I’m not yet sold on any of the available Tsuyuri figures. This one looks off. The eyes look weird. It’s a non-scale but the proportions seem off as well. Phat Company’s take on Tsuyuri seems like the best choice albeit at a much higher price point. Alter’s Tsuyuri is not very promising but should be better than this one.

Kakegurui×× – Jabami Yumeko – B-style – 1/4 – Bunny Ver. (FREEing)
I’m sure a lot of people have been waiting for a bunny figure of Jabami Yumeko but this is such a disappointment. I don’t buy 1/4 scale bunny figures but I do look forward to seeing them when making these pre-order round-up posts. This one was a real downer. The face is way way off. The boobs appear several cups too large for Yumeko. She ain’t small but there’s no way they’re that big. Here’s to hoping they redo it based on customer feedback. I already hear a lot of other collectors express disappointment over this.

No Game No Life – Izuna Hatsuse – Jibril – Shiro – Sora – Stephanie Dola – 1/7 (Phat Company)
This figure has been released several times already. If you wanted this figure before and still don’t own her, have you been sleeping under a rock? In any case, here’s your third chance to nab this gradient-haired loli.

I started the NekoFigs blog in January 2021, 5 years after I’ve started collecting anime figures. It all started with one humble prize figure of Saber Lily which was bought on a whim. Now, I face the big problem of how to deal with over 200 empty boxes.
