In case you missed it because I did. The MegaHobby Expo dubbed Mega Hobby EXPO 2022 Online Natsu Gira happened just a day before Wonder Festival Summer 2022 and was mostly overlooked. I mean, everyone’s been looking forward to WonFes. Also, it seems the MegaHobby Expo was only an online exhibition in contrast to WonFes which is now back as a live event in its home in Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
You can visit the MegaHobby Expo 2022 official site here. The Expo opened on July 23 and the site mentioned new updates will be revealed on July 30. The Expo will stay online until August 10.
The event announced new figures many of which already went up for preorder over the past few weeks. Still, the event also saw new figures announced. Alter was largely missing from WonFes and given that they are one of the best figure manufacturers out there, it was a big loss. Though it’s still good that we can see them at MegaHobby Expo to announce their new products. Other companies who joined the online event include Hobby Japan, Licorne, Dengeki Hobby, MIMEYOI, Amiami and of course, the organizers — Megahouse.
You can check out the entire figure lineup here but I’ll also go over some of the ones I like below.
Some of you who follow my blog probably already know that I am a fan of and play Princess Connect so I was looking forward to seeing the prototype for Summer Shizuru. I was expecting to see it during WonFes but was disappointed. Little did I know, she was on MegaHobby Expo.
This Zuikaku from Azur Lane was also seen in WonFes as MIMEYOI was present at both events. Shoukaku however is still an unpainted prototype (only seen during WonFes).
There are also some figures from Persona 5 to look forward to including these ones of Haru Okumura and Kasumi Yoshikawa. Kasumi actually went up for preorder over a month ago.
And then there’s Matou Sakura by Alter. You can expect this one to make a real dent in your wallet.
These Ryza, Lupusregina, and Lala figures actually went up from preorder a while ago. Any of these would be good purchases.
There’s also a new Gilgamesh figure for the husbando collectors.
KD Colle figures were also showcased including this set of Chocola and Vanilla from NekoPara. Pictured below is the exclusive version with the special hand part and base.
I started the NekoFigs blog in January 2021, 5 years after I’ve started collecting anime figures. It all started with one humble prize figure of Saber Lily which was bought on a whim. Now, I face the big problem of how to deal with over 200 empty boxes.
